50th Anniversary Celebration

After our morning service we celebrated with keynote speakers, recognition of charter members, words of encouragement from former pastors,  a historical video of our beginnings as a church to present day, and a final gathering of prayer for our future.

The 50 years we celebrate this afternoon is PAST.  it has PASSED.  It is DONE.  It is OVER.  It is HISTORY.  What we will do with the next fifty years?

1.  We must Understand that there is an Uncertainty to that which is certain

2.  We must Understand the difference between His plan and our Preferences

3.  We must Understand that Persecution will be Increasing

4.  We must Understand that Jesus Christ is STILL Lord

Sometimes the masks we wear are turned inward, covering up sin in such a way that we don’t recognize it, or we ignore itn. or we diminish it.  We live in a nation abundance.  Actually we live in a nation of over-indulgence.  The sin of gluttony is rooted in lust, covetousness, greed and over0indulgence.  It is making a god of our craving to which we bow.

As American Christians, we struggle with this issue of pride.  Our society has long encouraged, even championed, pride.  Pride has driven us to be competitive, to give our best, to achieve, to outlast, to out-produce, to WIN.  And while there is certainly great merit in seeking to produce our best, there is a tremendous risk in maneuvering to BE the best.  Sometimes that line becomes particularly faded.  Yet, as Christians, we must be very careful we don’t fall into the sin of pride.

1. Pride has the capability of falsely elevating a person to the point they think themselves above God. 
2. The attitude of Christ should be enough to instruct us as to how we believers should view ourselves and present ourselves to others…and to God.

The emotion of Fear is a God-given gift and it must be understood that its intended for good.  It must be placed in a proper perspective so that it is balanced and so that it does not become an extreme. 

 

1.  Hypocrisy has not place in the life and reputation of the Follower Christ. Genuineness is integrity, integrity is honest, and honesty if upholding the truth

2.  As Christians, we should honest; honest with God and, just as essential, honest with ourselves

3.  Do not take “Counsel” from our fears.

Masking over hatred sometimes doesn't work.  While the person hating may not be easily identified because they are wearing a mask their hate is easily identified.

1.  God hates sin but God does not hate people

2.  God's truth judges created things out of love; Satan's truth judges them out of any and HATRED.

3.  Hatred stirs up strife but LOVE covers all sins   Proverbs 10:12
